The challenge
The leading supplier of decorating products to B&Q and Wickes, Coral Tools had previously employed Alternative Storage Systems to design and install the storage systems within their existing warehouse. They then invited Alternative Storage Systems to design, supply and install the same equipment for their new facility, too. They had outgrown their current unit and needed more space for storage thanks to a target pallet count that was more than double their current level.
The solution
We agreed to part ex the client’s existing racking and replace it with a good quality, pre-owned pallet racking system to suit his new requirements. After considering a number of different layouts, the customer gave the go ahead for a flexi forklift truck operation as this gave him the pallet count he needed as well as further room to expand in the future. It was also decided to incorporate some lower-level picking levels to each bay to have a mix of bulk stock and part boxes below to pick from. We also supplied anti collapse meshing to some bays to prevent stop any pallets from falling into a pedestrian area.
The outcome
The whole project was a success. Having worked with us previously, the client was confident that we would be able to complete the job to the standards he required. We repaid the client’s faith in us by making sure the whole project ran smoothly, keeping to the quoted lead time and ensuring that both price and programme were as agreed. The customer has since given us a yearly racking inspection contract and we have also been back to install some additional picking levels. We keep in regular contact with the customer, and he knows that we would be on hand if he required anything.
