The challenge
Evans Transport is one of the leading haulage and warehousing companies in the north Devon area. They approached Alternative Storage Systems as they had recently opened a new warehouse that was being used purely for storage. We met and liaised with their logistics director and worked hand in hand with them to meet the client’s demands.
Due to the warehouse being storage only they had a strict target pallet count in mind, the challenge being that they wanted to keep using their existing counterbalance forklift truck so as to avoid purchasing a new truck.
The solution
Being a nationally operating firm, we took the time to visit the site especially as, until then, the only information we had was drawings supplied by the customer. By attending site, were were able to assess the location and its challenges/limitations in detail.
Once our in-house design team had produced their layouts and had them approved, the project was ready to begin.
A key reason as to why we were successful in winning this project was the fact we could offer a good quality second hand system which was readily available. We promised the client a two week lead time which appealed to them due to their stringent timescales. We supplied Dexion pallet racking which we had recently removed from another of our sites.
The outcome
The project was a massive success with the client being particularly happy about the significant improvement in storage efficiency. He was happy that all of his storage was in the same warehouse instead of several locations, boosting efficiency within his operation and saving even more money in the process.
