Porcelain Superstore – heavy duty pallet racking, mezzanine floor, and long span shelving

The challenge

The customer had recently moved into a new warehouse, envisioning significant expansion for the business and realising that a comprehensive pallet racking system was required.

The client made it clear to us that he required the majority of the warehouse to be racked out a used for bulk pallet storage. After a few months the client then came back onto us unsure on what to do with their warehouse – they had expanded their online presence and had more warehouse staff working for them.

The solution

Phase 1 was straight forward. The client knew what he required, and the layout was agreed easily. Once the client decided to go with a flexi forklift truck, we were able design the proposed layout and, upon approval, we were able to supply the pallet racking within the requested lead time, installing everything before their official move in date.

Phase 2 was a little more involved, with our design team developing a solution to an issue raised by the client. After approaching Alternative Storage Systems regarding his warehousing staff issues, we proposed the idea of installing a mezzanine floor. By doing this, the client was able to have staff working on top and below the mezzanine. We also supplied some long span shelving to go below the mezzanine as the client had started to pick and pack order in house instead of using a 3rd party company.

The outcome

Every phase of the project went smoothly, and we received wonderful feedback from the client due, specifically mentioning the fact that our team always considered the needs of the customer.

The client was so pleased that we came up with the idea of a mezzanine floor as he had never used one before and was close to obtaining a new unit which would have added significant cost and disruption to the project. We have been rewarded with several follow up orders over the following past years and, each and every time, the customer is completely satisfied.
