The challenge
Textiles and fabrics designers and manufacturers, TexTech, approached Alternative Storage Systems, looking to discuss a the possibility of installing mezzanine floor within their newly acquired warehouse in Huddersfield. During the initial site survey, the client had made us aware of their plans for underneath the mezzanine, where they envisaged creating a storage area for their production machinery. It was also made clear that these machines needed to be moved into place before the mezzanine was installed, meaning that our installation teams would have to work around them.
The solution
Our in-house design proposed a 20m x 15.5m mezzanine complete with a staircase, pallet gate, hand/knee rail and a kicker plate. Due to the complications associated with the machinery, the installation process wasn’t as straight forward as we would’ve hoped, but this wasn’t an issue for our installation team. Instead, they were able to work intelligently around the machines whilst still completing their works within the timescale promised.
We used a mixture of pre-owned refurbished and new components to make up the mezzanine floor. We also had to fully fire rate the mezzanine due to that fact staff were going to be working on top.
The outcome
The customer expressed how pleased he was with the mezzanine project, especially given the presence of the in situ machinery. He was surprised at how fast we were able to build the mezzanine, and also praised us on how easy we were to work with saying. Our team were commended on how approachable they were, and how easy it was to get in touch via phone or email if he needed to amend the layout.
